For more than 55 years, the FM Area Foundation has partnered with individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits to create a variety of funds to support our community. Today, we manage more than 300 funds, some with specific purposes, and others that support the community’s greatest needs.
Walter and Verna Gehrts Fund Designated Fund
Established: Aug 30, 1996 Grants are to be given regularly to designated charitable organizations that have special significance to the family. Nine designated charities are supported: American Legion, Lake Benton Museum, Catholic Daughters, Home on the Range, Northwest Technical College, Nokomis Endowment Fund, Our Redeemers Church, St. Francis de Sales Parish Center, and Roger Maris Cancer Center.
Warren B. and Irene O. Diederich Fund Donor Advised Fund
Established: Dec 03, 2009 This advised fund supports a wide variety of charitable interests as recommended by the donors.
West Fargo Area Community Program Fiscal Sponsorship
Established: Oct 04, 2013 The FM Area Foundation is serving as a fiscal sponsor for fundraising focused on the West Fargo Senior Program, while the West Fargo Area Community Program awaits its tax-exempt status.
West Fargo Area Scholarship Fund Unallocated Scholarship Fund
Established: Dec 31, 2013 This fund was created to manage a number of West Fargo Dollars for Scholars scholarship funds.
Established: Oct 06, 2003 This organizational endowment provides long term funding for the annual Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion show held in Rollag, Minnesota every Labor Day weekend.
Willard Grager Scholarship Fund Scholarship Fund
Established: Apr 23, 1981 Created by Cass County Electric Cooperative, Inc. in memory of Mr. Grager, Cooperative Director, the fund provides scholarships to students attending North Dakota State College of Science.
William and Anna Jane Schlossman Fund Donor Advised Fund
Established: Dec 23, 2002 Established through an estate gift, the Schlossman's created this fund to actively engage each member of their family in the grant-making process. Family members advise and make recommendations regarding the use of fund income.
William B. Richardson Family Fund Donor Advised Fund
Established: Dec 21, 2015 Annual distributions from his fund shall be limited to agricultural research and education; rural quality of life, especially with applications in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota to include emergency services, cultural programs, rural nursing, and home care services; youth programs, especially young people interacting with the natural environment to include swimming programs, non-motorized boating, and camping; and arts in the Red River Valley.
William C. and Jane B. Marcil Family Foundation Supporting Organization
Established: Dec 31, 1996 The donors and their family are engaged in grantmaking for charitable activities through this supporting organization. As fourth generation publishers of The Forum, Mr. and Mrs. Marcil are genuinely committed to philanthropy.
William D. Weddell Charitable Trust Field of Interest Fund
Established: Nov 29, 1989 This fund annual supports the FM Area Foundations grant rounds.
William J. Boettcher Memorial Fund Field of Interest Fund
Established: Dec 21, 1992 This fund annual supports the FM Area Foundations grant rounds.
Wilson Family Fund Donor Advised Fund
Established: Mar 01, 2011 This advised fund supports a wide variety of charitable interests as recommended by the donors.
Women's Fund Endowment Field of Interest Fund
Established: Dec 14, 2000 Established by action of the board of governors of the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation in December 2000, this is a permanent field of interest fund. Creating opportunities for women and girls is the central purpose of this fund. Launched through the volunteer support of more than thirty area women in 2002, the Women's Fund began grantmaking in 2003.
YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties Endowment Fund Agency Fund
Established: Nov 09, 2004 A permanent endowment fund to support the Fargo-Moorhead YMCA operations in order for it to continue its tradition of enhancing the spirit, mind and body of all persons with quality leadership, programs, services and facilities.
