Our Scholarships

Our scholarship funds provide financial assistance to students working to reach their fullest potential through education and training.  

The FM Area Foundation manages more than 60 scholarship funds. These funds were created by generous individuals, families and businesses to provide financial assistance for students pursuing higher education and training. For the 2021-2022 academic year, we awarded $334,825 to deserving students!

Some of the scholarships you’ll find below are awarded to students from a certain high school, while others are awarded to students going into specific areas of study, such as nursing or engineering. Each scholarship has its own set of eligibility requirements. To see if you may be eligible for a scholarship, please search the list below.

  • Jill and Jeff Berg University Scholarships

    The Jill and Jeff Berg Scholarship Fund offers three scholarships at local Universities. If you are interested in applying please reach out directly to the University Department/Program for additional details regarding the application process. 

    NDSU- Agriculture Economics Program   $2,500

    Concordia College- Offut School of Business Program   $1,500

    UND School of Medicine- Doctor of Physical Therapy Program   $1,500

  • Joseph O. Keller Memorial Scholarship Fund

    Joni and Gerard Keller established the Joseph O. Keller Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of their son, Joe, who passed away May 2, 2021 at the age of 21.  This fund will provide a scholarship for a student attending Minnesota State University Moorhead. 

  • Kathryn P. Bond Charitable Fund

    Application Deadline: April 8, 2022

    Scholarship designated for graduate level students studying in the fields of medicine, social service or political science.

    Applicant must be from Cass County, North Dakota, or Clay County, Minnesota.

    Undergraduate academic achievement will be considered.

  • Kiwanis Club of Lake Agassiz Legacy Scholarship

    “Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.”

     The Kiwanis Club of Lake Agassiz wanted to create a legacy following its dissolution in the fall of 2021. With this defining statement as a guide, LAK created an endowment to be administered by the F-M Area Foundation which will generate a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded each year to a senior in the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo area to be applied toward the costs of tuition, campus housing, board or books at a post-secondary institution of the recipient’s choice.

  • Leonard and Donna Richards Scholarship - Northern Cass High School

    Application Deadline: April 8, 2022

    Applicant must be a graduating Senior of Northern Cass High School. 

    Preference will be given to a student planning to pursue an agricultural related course of study. 

    Please Note: This award is paid at the beginning of the student's second semester.
