For years, the FM Area Foundation’s Caring Catalog helped connect generous people with local nonprofits serving Cass County, North Dakota, and Clay County, Minnesota. Now, the Foundation is building on that tradition with a new resource designed to help people discover local organizations and give with purpose: the Giving Guide.
A NEW CHAPTER FOR LOCAL GIVING
The Caring Catalog played an important role in connecting donors with nonprofit organizations and the causes they care about. Over the years, it helped facilitate nearly $2 million in giving and supported more than 100 local nonprofits. We are grateful to the donors, fundholders, nonprofit organizations and community partners who made it possible.
“While the Caring Catalog has come to a close, our commitment to local giving remains as strong as ever,” said Eric Wilkie, Executive Director. “As our community’s charitable landscape continues to evolve, we see an opportunity to build on what we do best: helping people support the causes that matter to them.”

The Giving Guide is a new, year-round resource for discovering local organizations and learning more about the work happening throughout our community.
Each organization featured in
the guide has been reviewed through the FM Area Foundation’s Community Grant process. This gives donors the benefit of our more than six decades of experience as a local funder and our understanding of the needs and opportunities across Cass and Clay Counties.
Whether you are looking for a new organization to support, exploring causes that align with your values or planning your charitable giving for the year ahead, the Giving Guide offers a starting point for finding opportunities close to home.
A RESOURCE TO USE ALL YEAR
Giving is not limited to one season, and neither is the Giving Guide. We encourage individuals, families and professional advisors to return to it throughout the year as they consider charitable gifts and explore ways to support our community.
