The FM Area Foundation is committed to giving back to our local nonprofits. In an effort to commemorate distinguished board members who have completed three full terms with our organization, we have decided that starting in 2025 and in the year proceeding with these individuals’ dedicated service, we will establish a $500 Scholarship for individuals working with or employed by a nonprofit residing in Cass County, ND or Clay County, MN.
Financial Literacy & Accounting Scholarship: In honor of Don Haugen, our distinguished board member who is passionate about accounting, auditing, and financial literacy, this scholarship could be designated for individuals in the nonprofit community who wish to advance their skills in financial management, budgeting, or accounting. This scholarship could support coursework, certifications, or training related to financial literacy and nonprofit accounting.
Board Governance & Ethics Scholarship: In honor of Dr. Marilyn Guy, dedicated to board service, fiduciary responsibility, and ethics, this scholarship could be directed toward nonprofit staff or board members looking to deepen their understanding of nonprofit governance, ethics, or board leadership. It could fund workshops, conferences, or courses focused on nonprofit governance, ethics, and board responsibilities.
