FM Area Foundation Responds to Urgent COVID-19 Need with Community Response Fund. Joining #GivingTuesdayNow in Global Day of Giving
- May 01, 2020
#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 – in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.The day is designed to drive an influx of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world.
At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all races, faiths, and political views together across the globe. Generosity gives everyone power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on. It’s a day for everyone around the world to stand together and give back in all ways, no matter who or where we are.
The FM Area Foundation has activated its Community Response Fund of Cass and Clay Counties to respond to the impact of COVID-19. The purpose of this fund is to support immediate and long-term recovery efforts following a community crisis or disaster. The FM Area Foundation will use donations to help meet the needs of the nonprofit sector impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, specifically organizations providing services to vulnerable populations.
“Donations into the Community Response Fund will be granted directly to Cass Clay nonprofits. Some donations will be used immediately for the greatest needs, and a portion of funds will be used to help support long-term efforts,” said Tim Beaton, Executive Director. “The flexibility of the fund allows us to respond to the needs of our nonprofit community not being met through other available programs.”
The FM Area Foundation is matching the first $250,000 in donations.
Community members can give to the Community Response Fund of Cass and Clay Counties this #GivingTuesdayNow, taking place May 5, to help provide relief for nonprofits affected by COVID-19.
